The story of our Great White Shark
18 feet long, 14 feet around, and weighing 3,200 pounds, this Great White Shark was taken from the waters off of Australia. It is one of the biggest Great White sharks ever recorded. The Great White’s reputation as a ferocious hunter and indiscriminate scavenger was proven by the examination of its stomach contents. This Great White yielded a whole 200-pound seal and a car battery. Proof again that nothing is safe from this ultimate hunter.
This is not an actual skin mount, which taxidermists shy away from because of their short life span, but a fiberglass replicat taken from a mold made after the shark’s capture. Photos of the shark were used so that every detail of this massive predator could be reproduced — from its powerful tail to its serrated teeth. (Because of the monetary and historical value of its teeth, they were donated to the Smithsonian Institute for research and study.)
